Our representative meets you at Srinagar Airport and transfers you to your luxury houseboat on Dal Lake. Spend the afternoon on a Shikara ride through the lake's floating gardens (locally called 'Rad') — vendors in small shikaras will approach with lotus flowers, saffron and Kashmiri handicrafts. Watch the sunset turn the Zabarwan Mountains golden-pink. Dinner on your houseboat as the lake falls perfectly still.

Begin the day at the spectacular Mughal Gardens — Nishat Bagh (Garden of Bliss), Shalimar Bagh (Abode of Love) and Chashme Shahi (Royal Spring) — terraced gardens on the slopes of the Zabarwan Range overlooking Dal Lake, built by Mughal emperors in the 17th century. Climb Shankaracharya Hill for a panoramic city view. Evening stroll through Lal Chowk's bazaars for Kashmiri saffron, papier-mâché and pashmina shawls.

Drive 54km to Gulmarg (Meadow of Flowers) at 2,650m. Take the famous Gulmarg Gondola — one of the world's highest cable cars — rising to 3,979m at Kongdori Station for breathtaking views of Nanga Parbat and the Himalayan range. In winter (Dec-Feb) this is India's best ski resort; in summer, enjoy pony rides, golf on the world's highest golf course, and wildflower meadow walks. Return to Srinagar evening.

Drive to Pahalgam (Valley of Shepherds) via Pampore — the saffron capital where in October an ocean of purple crocus flowers covers the fields. Stop at the Awantipora Ruins, a 1,100-year-old Vishnu temple built by King Awantiverma. Check in at Pahalgam and explore the Lidder River banks in the evening. The river rushes crystal-clear from glaciers above, and the surrounding pine forests are magnificent.

Full day excursion around Pahalgam by local taxi (mandatory as outside vehicles not allowed). Visit Betaab Valley — named after the Sunny Deol film shot here, a breathtaking alpine valley surrounded by snow peaks. Continue to Chandanwari (snow point, 14km from Pahalgam) where you can enjoy horse rides and sledging. Optional: visit Aru Valley, a perfectly serene meadow surrounded by glaciers — a trekker's paradise.

Drive back to Srinagar then continue to Sonamarg, the 'Meadow of Gold' (2,800m) — a vast alpine meadow surrounded by snow peaks, glaciers and alpine flowers. Take a pony ride to the Thajiwas Glacier where snow remains year-round. Return to Srinagar for your final houseboat night.
